About the Role

Journey Fellowship San Antonio is seeking a full-time NexGen Pastor/Minister/Director to lead our Intermediate Students, Junior High Students, High School Students, Children’s Ministry, and Local Schools engagement. We are looking for a someone with a distinct calling and passion for helping Students and Children actively engage and continuously grow in their relationship with Christ. Our Discipleship pathway includes large gatherings, events, and classes.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Born-again believer, maturing in their faith, who aligns with the beliefs of Journey Fellowship (explore our website at https://myjf.church/beliefs).

  • Formal Ministry Training from a Bible college or seminary is highly desired.

  • Strong knowledge of the Bible with a calling and passion for Student and Children discipleship.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience in organizing ministries, classes, and student small groups, including subject matter selection/development and the training of lay leaders and volunteers.

 

Staffing Hierarchy:

  • Reports to the Lead Pastor

  • Supervises the Student Ministry Coordinator and Children’s Ministry Director.

 

Major Responsibilities:

Student Ministries

  • Provide direct oversight and support for Student ministries to ensure activities align with overall mission, vision, values of Journey Fellowship.

  • Advocate the vision of Journey Fellowship to the congregation through the eyes of the students.

  • Lead by example, motivate through encouragement, recruit, and equip staff, lay-leaders, volunteers, and parents to implement the student ministry plan.

  • Develop, lead, implement and evaluate weekly Student programming and events such as worship gatherings, small groups, and serving opportunities.

  • Oversee and implement Church-wide ministry strategies and events to reinforce young adult discipleship and faith development.

    • Assist with evaluating, choosing, and training for Student’s curriculum.

    • Implement student initiatives: 1) Retreats; 2) Camps, 3) Local & Global Outreach.

  • Oversee and ensure that all Student Ministry staff, lay-leaders, and volunteer applicants are screened and processed in a timely manner including background checks, recruitment/interview processes, initial and ongoing training.

  • Recruit, lead, and equip Student Ministry staff, volunteers, and lay-leaders.

  • Develop the Student budget in coordination with the Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor, and Student Ministry Staff.

 

Local Schools Ministry

  • Provide direct oversight and support for Student ministries engagement in the local schools.

  • Identify partnership opportunities within the local schools.

  • Coordinate with Community In Schools (CIS) program to provide mentoring, bible clubs and tutoring for Students.

  • Cultivate a spirit of cooperation and presence in the local schools.

 

 

Children’s Ministry

  • Provide strategic oversight to the Children’s Ministry Director to ensure activities align with overall mission, vision, values of Journey Fellowship.

  • Advocate the vision of Journey Fellowship to the congregation through the eyes of the children.

  • Support and equip the Children’s Ministry Director to lead the ministry well by establishing and maintaining relationships with local schools, engaging the whole family unit, and providing a safe and fun environment for learning God’s Word.

  • Assist in the development of the Children’s budget in coordination with the Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor and Children’s Ministry Staff.

 

Other Duties

  • Manage the budgets of Student Ministry and Children’s Ministry as a good steward of church resources.

  • Contribute to the overall appearance and organization of the church facilities (keeping up ministry/common/storage areas).

  • Actively participate in the life of the church as a member in good standing and as an example of a growing disciple of Christ.

  • Live within a reasonable distance of the church to participate in the life of our community.

 

Title of the Role

  • A successful candidate that meets the qualifications of Titus 1:5-9, 1 Tim. 3:1-7, and 1 Peter 5:1-4 will hold the title of Pastor and be expected to assist with pastoral duties such as counseling, weddings, funerals, etc.

  • Otherwise, the successful candidate will hold the title of Minister or Director and will not be expected to fulfill pastoral duties.

About the Church

Journey Fellowship was established in 2005 as the first church plant of Oak Hills Church, and launched as a fully independent, non-denominational church in September of 2019. We are located at 16847 IH35N, Selma, TX 78154 on I-35 between San Antonio and New Braunfels, TX and current attendance is @ 500 and growing. The area boasts a vast array of activities, attractions, and shopping within close proximity of San Antonio, New Braunfels, Austin, and the Texas Hill Country. We are excited to meet the person God has ordained to step into this role!
